Overview of Year 9 in Music

This year you are going to be working on a project called Musical Futures. It is designed to get you developing team work skills, motivation and how to make choices.

There are various stages to the work.

Stage 1

You work in groups producing a cover version of a track you have chosen yourselves. You work out how to play the track, by ear rather than always getting help. You are developing your listening skills, as well as how to work well in a team or group.

Stage 2

Your group choose a track to perform from a choice of two. Videos help you perform the tracks and learn how to play the various instruments. The emphasis is on independent learning, working through difficulties and not always asking for help - finding a solution on your own. You listen to the track and work it out, using the videos to help.
